Zvezdov Andrey Ivanovich – Dr. Sci. (Engineering), Professor, laureate of the Government of the Russian Federation, Director of the Research Institute of Concrete and Reinforced Concrete (NIIZhB) named after. A.A. Gvozdev (1994–2005), first vice-president of the Russian Academy of Engineering, Honored Builder of the Russian Federation, Honorary Builder of Moscow.

Zvezdov A.I. published more than 100 monographs and articles, registered more than 50 patents for inventions. Researcher A.I. Zvezdov is the author of the concept of concrete with compensated shrinkage, co-author of a number of unique developments that have no analogues in world practice (reinforced concrete water pipelines without a metal core; reinforced concrete coatings without expansion joints for roads, airfields, bridges; seamless floors for industrial buildings; tank structures without additional waterproofing for liquids; reinforced concrete torus tanks for storage and disposal of radioactive waste, etc.).

Based on technology developed under the leadership of A.I. Zvezdov, a significant breakthrough was made in high-rise construction, doubling the number of storeys of the building without increasing the load from its own weight on the lower floor and base. The proposed version of monolithic foam concrete does not require drying of the material after its laying, providing the speed of strength gain necessary for stripping. He has developed a special material for restoration and restoration work on buildings with architectural decorations of facades, which meets not only aesthetic requirements, but is also capable of not being damaged for at least 50 years in the aggressive environment of an industrial center. The created technology of architectural concrete products was successfully applied to the church building in Novo-Peredelkino.

The team of the institute, headed by A.I. Zvezdov, participated in the construction of many unique buildings, including the reconstruction of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the construction of the complex on Manezhnaya Square, the Moscow City International Business Center, and the Ostankino TV tower after the fire. Institute specialists under the leadership of A.I. Zvezdov developed building codes and regulations of the Russian Federation “Concrete and reinforced concrete structures. Basic provisions" (SNiP 52-01-2003), as well as sets of rules for the design of reinforced concrete structures both without prestressing and with prestressing.

Full member of the Russian Academy of Engineering, Honorary transport builder, member of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Moscow Construction Complex and a number of other scientific and technical councils and societies.

In 2000–2003 was a member of the Expert Council on Construction and the Construction Industry under the Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation on Industry, Construction and High Technologies.
