"Concrete and Reinforced Concrete" is a scientific, technical, academic and industrial journal in the field of construction. Published between 1955 and 2016. In 2019, the specialized Association “Reinforced Concrete” became the founder of the journal “Concrete and Reinforced Concrete”.
The publisher of the scientific and technical journal “Concrete and Reinforced Concrete” since 2023 is JSC Research Center of Construction.
The magazine was the leading specialized publication in the USSR in the field of theory and technology for the production of concrete and reinforced concrete, as well as the design, calculation, production, construction and operation of reinforced concrete structures in construction.
The idea of publishing the monthly magazine “Concrete and Reinforced Concrete” belongs to N.K. Proskuryakov, who during the first ten years of the magazine’s existence was its editor-in-chief. The first issue of the magazine was published in April 1955 in the Stroyizdat system under the auspices of the State Committee of the USSR Council of Ministers for Construction Affairs. Leading scientists, designers, and construction industry specialists were involved in the work on the materials of the new publication. A special contribution to the formation of the magazine was made by NIIZHB employees: G.I. Berdichevsky, A.A. Gvozdev, V.V. Mikhailov, V.M. Moskvin and B.G. Skramtaev.
During the Soviet period, the magazine published articles by leading specialists in the construction industry on the research, design, production and use of new types of concrete and reinforcement, concrete and reinforced concrete structures, the theory of concrete and reinforced concrete, issues of calculation, design and standardization of reinforced concrete structures, ensuring durability, development of concrete production and reinforced concrete products. In the 1960–1980s, special attention was paid to the creation and improvement of the precast reinforced concrete industry in the USSR. The magazine's circulation reached 22 thousand copies, one and a half thousand of which were sent abroad to foreign subscribers.
Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences K.V. had a significant influence on the development of the journal. Mikhailov, who was editor-in-chief for about 20 years.
During the collapse of the USSR, during a difficult time of economic crisis for the magazine, the number of subscribers decreased and circulation dropped sharply. The magazine began to be published six times a year. In 1992, the founders of the magazine included NIIZhB and VNIIzhelezobeton. The new founders contributed to the development of the magazine and its ideology. Scientists from these institutes have become the main suppliers of new knowledge to the journal’s knowledge base for its widespread use in scientific research and practice in the use of concrete and reinforced concrete.
During the publication of the magazine, more than 4 thousand printed works of scientists, designers and practitioners of the USSR and later from all CIS countries were published on its pages. Among the authors of the magazine are the names of famous specialists who have made a significant contribution to the development of the science of concrete and reinforced concrete and to the practice of using advanced technologies in construction. On the pages of the magazine, academicians of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences and the Russian Academy of Engineering, doctors and candidates of technical sciences, famous scientists and practitioners shared their knowledge and experience, including: I.F. Ponomarev, V.M. Bondarenko, Yu.M. Bazhenov, B.A. Krylov, N.I. Karpenko, A.G. Komar, P.G. Komokhov, A.S. Zalesov, A.I. Zvezdov, T.A. Mukhamediev, R.L. Serykh, V.G. Batrakov and many others.
